FQ CUP MISSION STATEMENT
Sunshine Coast Football aims to provide a professional, safe and positive football environment while developing and evolving talented Junior and Youth players. SCF will strive to develop players capable of competing at the highest levels of competitive football.
SCF seek to provide an equal opportunity for all football players to participate in a competitive environment that develops a player’s technical skills, decision-making, knowledge, football intelligence and appreciation for the game of football by incorporating the best training methods, structure and development through positive, pro-active coaching styles.
By appointing the very best SCF coaches available, Sunshine Coast Football will strive to help players mature as people and will encourage the development of important life skills such as good sportsmanship, teamwork, goal setting, and fair play.
SCF will endeavour to empower our players with a life-long passion and love for the game of football and the life journeys that the ‘Beautiful Game’ give’s us.
SCF PHILOSOPHY AND VISION (OVERVIEW)
Sunshine Coast Football will create an environment where our players develop a love of the game of football and continue to participate in the sport throughout their lifetime. To achieve this goal, SCF must develop an environment where we teach a pro-active, creative, attacking, and possession-style of football built on a foundation of strong technical skills.
In adopting this style of football, we strive to foster an environment free from the “fear of failure”, where SCF players can explore and be creative without the fear of making mistakes. SCF believe that such an environment, with no limitations is where our players can grow the most and realize their potential, both as players and as human beings. The motivation to play attractive pro-active football must be greater than the fear of losing.
“I am more concerned if we don’t play good, creative, pro-active football than if we don’t win.”
– Scott Grimshaw – Football Queensland
SCF will emphasize individual skill development, teamwork, game concepts and sportsmanship. In addition to developing technically and tactically sound players, we aim to develop our players both physically and psychologically. In terms of physical development, a strong emphasis will be placed on developing psychomotor skills, which unfortunately have been on a rapid decline in today’s youth, due to the modern environment, whereby free play (playing at parks, unorganized sports etc) is fast becoming non-existent.
To develop our players psychologically, we aim to teach our players valuable lessons through competition and prepare them for the challenges they will face both on the field and in later life. While we stress that ‘winning is not always important,’ we also emphasize that ‘wanting to win’ IS important. Ultimately, we are a competitive Football Zone and all SCF teams will strive to win every game, BUT we will always aim to do so in a manner that is consistent with the SCF philosophy as outlined above, by playing a pro-active, attacking, possession style of football.
