Refereeing 2011:
All referees who are 13 years of age or older are allowed to do the referees course and those who will pass the course will be allowed to do games. All the centre referees must be 14 years or older. New referees aged 13 will get appointed as an assistant referee until they will turn 14. This change is based on several years of observations and inspections by the referee coaches. Their reports have shown that the biggest problems are caused by the most inexperienced and the youngest referees put under big pressure by the loud coaches and parents. The first season as an assistant referee will provide the young assistant referees with valuable experience without the pressure of being the centre referee and will lower the step for them to start as a centre referee when the time is right. Due to thelarge, consistent increase of referees the last four years the Sunshine Coast now has enough referees for doing this without causing problems to the games. Some cases the new referees aged 13 may be used as a centre referee if no older referees are available.
Midseason course in June: This course is now full. The next courses will be held in January-February 2011.
Place: Maroochydore football club, 462 maroochydore rd (next to the zone office)
Date: Sunday June 6th, 8.15 am - 4 pm
Cost: $40 to be paid on the day of the course in cash. Every referee on the course will get a referee whistle and the Laws of the Game book.
Age requirement: All participants must be 13 years or older on the first day of the referee course.
What to bring: Pen & paper for notes. Water, lunch / lunch money. Running shoes, we will use the fields during the day.
